Ealing Video & Film Makers

west london's premier video club

Welcome to the Ealing Video & Film Makers club website

Based in West London, in the UK, we are an independent group of movie makers affiliated to the Institute of Amateur Cinematographers (IAC). Since our inception, in 1964, we have grown into one of the most respected clubs in the country. We meet weekly to discuss our work-in-progress and to present our completed projects.

Although we are not a film school we are a friendly club interested in helping amateur film and video makers share and expand their knowledge.

We have a comprehensive programme of events throughout the year and offer a full range of movie-related and regular social activities. Our club also regularly participates in amateur film competitions in the UK and throughout the world.

Chairman : Jean Dockley

Nev's Notes

Ron Chant led the 11th. May club night. We have always associated Ron with wildlife films and fishing but he has another string to his bow so to speak (sorry about the following pun). He is a toxopholite (archer)! Ron showed us two DVDs - one was about the "Wednesday Crew", a group of older people who go out and shoot at various targets and also a film about the English Field Archery competition, where we saw people shooting at targets with drawings of animals on them, using bows that bore very little resemblance to the traditional long bow.

Nev's Notes

On our regular Friday evening meeting of May 4th, fourteen people turned up to hear Alan discussing the work of father and son film editors Frederick and Roger Wilson. Alan showed clips from various films they had edited including Ceaser and Cleopatra, North West Frontier, The Lawman and Arabesque. Alan discussed the various editing techniques used, reverse angles and in Arabesque using a cars mirror to show what was happening. Alans knowledge of film history is amazing and it was a fascinating evening.

The Making of Fallen Leaves

Fallen Leaves by Karen Cherrington, John James, Alan Robinson, Terry Tkachuk & Neville Withers - also known collectively as 'The Partners' - got 4-star awards at BIAFF 2009 and made an impact as the first film shown on the Sunday gala show. In April 2009 Terry's local cinema in Bridport was showing the film as a warm up before main features and the team heard that the young actor who plays Louie, Max Edelsten, got a part in Ridley Scott's film, $130m Hollywood blockbuster, Robin Hood.

Just One More Tweek ~ Filming The Exchange

by The Partners: Karen Cherrington, Alan Robinson, John James, Susan James, Neville Withers, Terry Tkachuk

We have to note that the greatest creative achievements of humans are a product of the human brain.

Alice said to the Cheshire cat, "which road should I take?"
And the Cheshire cat said, "where do you want to go?"
And Alice said, "I don't care."
And the Cheshire cat replied, "then it doesn't matter which road you take."

JUMP

jump The latest film from The Partners team, Jump tells the story of sculptor Angela Makepeace (Lucie Eadon) and her final attempt at suicide when her plans are thwarted by Echo, her guardian angel (Riley Stuart).
